Because I had heard mixed reviews about the Crayola Factory, I didn't know what to expect but we ended up spending 5 full hours there! I was pleasantly surprised at the long attention span my 2 year old retained at some of the activity stations. There really was a lot to see and do. And I appreciated how they didn't limit you to only make 1 of each craft but you could make more if you wanted and move through at your own pace.
First, we watched how crayons and markers were made. A little tip that was passed on during the demonstration--if your marker runs dry don't throw it out! Instead, press the marker tip into water and let it absorb. Then leave it overnight with the cap on and your marker should be as good as new!
The kids loved being able to draw not just on paper, but all over walls, on glass, in the dark, and a race car using all sorts of mediums: dry erase crayons, water colors, glow lights, chalk, and even melted crayons.

One of the coolest exhibits was a photo booth where you could create your own coloring page starring you next to you favorite character. You simply take a picture and it prints a coloring page out for you to take home. So cool!

I'm not sure how this is directly related to crayons, but there is also a water works room where kids can take a boat through a waterway of canals and ramps. I think this room is more historically related to the presence of canals in Easton, PA where the factory is located. Regardless, my kids always love any sort of water play.
Other fun stuff included in the visit was a little scavenger hunt where the kids collected 4 unique crayon colors: mango tango, pink flamingo, banana-mania, and tropical rain forest. With our tickets we also received tokens which could be redeemed for markers, crayons, and model magic.
As with most kid places, I always believe in going as soon as the facility opens. That was definitely true of the Crayola Factory today. There were a lot of people at 9:30 a.m. but by noon I saw a line out the door just to get in. And it was really crowded as we were leaving.
The kids loved the place and had so much fun. I would totally take them back again!
