Sandwich Press

I recently received a sandwich press as a favor from a friend's dol (Korean first birthday party).  I loved the idea of making cute, little, crustless sandwiches filled with a myriad of surprises and gave it a try the moment I found some spare time.  If you want to give it a go, you can pick up the same sandwich press here.
Instructions:
1. Place filling in the middle of the bread and top with second sliced of bread
2. Place both pieces of the press on the sandwich and press the outer ring to cut the bread
3. Push down on the middle piece to press the edges together
4. Enjoy!

I tested 2 fillings.
1. PB&J on whole wheat white bread.  This is a classic favorite.

2. Bacon & Cheddar, which I cooked on a buttered griddle.  Salty, oozy (is that a word?) and buttery.  This was super yum!
shredded cheddar + crumbled cooked bacon = YUM!
A whole sandwich is too much for my little girl, so I made half a sandwich by simply folding over one slice of bread and then using the press.  It worked out just as well.

My kiddies liked the little flower-like sandwiches.  This press is good for kids not just because it cuts off the crust for the finnicky ones, but it's perfectly sized for little hands and minimizes the dripping of fillings since there's only one opening.
a half version for my half pint
the full sized version for my super hero/fire fighter before he's off to save the world
And what to do with all the left over bread?  Well by golly, don't throw it away!  The pieces that remain intact, you can make Eggs in Baskets!  Fry the bread on a buttered griddle, flip it over, crack an egg inside and cook until your desired consistency of egg yolk.  Alternatively, just save the bread and make bread crumbs.

Filling Suggestions:
1. PB&J
2. Sliced or shredded cheese and then cooked on a griddle for grilled cheese
3. Tomato sauce & mozzarella, brushed with olive oil and baked for "hot-pockets"
4. Salads: egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad
5. Nutella
6. Any other kid favorites?
