Now that we have kids, going to into the city is usually quite an adventure. On this particular day, we got to enjoy the company of some good friends who treated us out for some awesome peking duck at the
Peking Duck House for my hubby's birthday!
After a delicious meal, we took a leisurely stroll to Times Square with the kids.

Then on to Toys R Us for a ride on the indoor Ferris wheel and some shopping...

While we didn't get to explore all the attractions at this flagship Toys R Us, apparently in addition to the Ferris wheel there is a life-sized T-Rex that roars and a 4000 square-foot walk-in Barbie dollhouse. Spiderman and Ironman were also making guest appearances and providing photo-ops but L was scared by the costumed superheroes and kept his distance.
Then heading back towards our cars, first some Mister Softee...

And if ice cream wasn't enough, we made a pit stop at
Magnolia Bakery and enjoyed some cupcakes outside of the Rockefeller Center fountains.

As we were nearing our car, we saw this
GIANT yellow teddy bear sculpture in front of the Seagram Building on Park Avenue guarded by 2 security guards. Apparently, this 23 foot high, 35,000 lb sculpture is on display for 5 months in mid-town Manhattan awaiting auction and potentially expected to bring in more than 9 million dollars.
The bear has button eyes and is sitting slouched under a reading lamp, that really works.
When we got back to our car, well past the kids' bedtimes, both passed out after a fun but exhausting night out in the city. And I too was ready to hit the sack!
